A Loss: Lorna Jean King
Lorna Jean King OTR, FAOTA, pioneer of sensory integration therapy, well known lecturer in the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa and long time Arizona resident, passed away November 4, 2006 in Phoenix, AZ.

 

King began her Arizona OT career in 1950 as the Director of Occupational Therapy at the Square and Compass Crippled Children’s Clinic in Tucson. From 1964 to l966 she was employed as a staff therapist at the Arizona State Hospital in Phoenix and later became Director of Rehabilitative Therapies for Arizona State Hospital serving until l974. King became Founder and Director of the Center for Neurodevelopmental Studies from 1995-1998 and continued on as consultant.


Memorial remembrance service is scheduled for November 25th at Central Methodist Church, Phoenix. Please check our website for additional details www.arizota.org

ArizOTA is a non-profit corporation founded in 1966 to serve the membership in Arizona and surrounding states.  ArizOTA is a volunteer-run agency, with officials elected on a rotating basis. Terms begin in July. 

Our Mission:

The mission of the ArizOTA is to promote and support excellence and professionalism among occupational therapy practitioners, and to collaborate with community members, healthcare providers, educators, legislators and reimbursement sources to facilitate activities and environments that enhance the occupational performance of patients and clients served.

Our Vision:

The ArizOTA, as a proactive, dynamic and responsive organization, will be a driving force in advocating for:

  1. System change which supports creative member involvement through education, mentoring and resource provision;
  2. Legislative and reimbursement issues that effect quality of life and consumer ability to access occupational therapy services, and;
  3. Community involvement through marketing, consumer advocacy, support of emerging arenas and collaborating with healthcare systems, educational agencies, business and industry.
